Visual3D Tools Landmark definition: segment
In previous videos, we’ve discussed how to define a landmark using 1 point, 2 points, or 3 points. In this tutorial, we will show you how to define one using the whole segment as reference.
Basing a landmark on a segment can be useful in situations where definition markers might become occluded from view. If your landmark is calculated from markers that don’t always remain in view of the cameras, there will be gaps in your tracking. If you base it on the coordinate system of the segment instead, the landmark will continue to be tracked.
Defining a landmark from a segment can also be helpful in tracking landmarks that don’t obviously correlate with existing points. This approach lets you define the landmark using offsets from the origin point of the segment.
