Visual3D Principles Basic segment definition
This tutorial illustrates how a basic segment is defined in Visual3D.
Using a cylinder to represent a simple body segment like a forearm, we place two markers each on the segment’s proximal end (closer to the center of mass) and distal end (farther from the center of mass). These markers will define the segment in Visual3D.
Each segment in Visual3D has its own coordinate system from which advanced calculations can be performed to obtain biomechanically valid results. That’s why it’s critical to understand marker placement and identification as well as their appropriate use in defining segments.
